Your first visit...
Physical Yoga Therapy starts with a thorough evaluation that draws on the components of traditional physical therapy and yoga. The physical therapy elements include: a past medical history (PMHX ), history of present injury/concern, pain assessment, strength and range of movement (ROM) assessment, static and dynamic balance assessment, and postural analysis to address muscle imbalance areas.
The assessment process proceeds with a yoga-oriented evaluation which includes the assessment of: breathing, postural awareness,
bio-mechanical analysis of poses, neurodevelopmental patterns of movement, meditation/mindfulness, as well as lifestyle and wellness.
Once this integrated assessment is complete, I prescribe a treatment plan for personal practice and subsequent sessions.
Ongoing visits:
Subsequent sessions provide progression and integration in your PYT practice. This treatment practice is a partnership between you and I which consists of the prescription of Asana poses and sequences, therapeutic exercises, and stress reduction strategies including meditation, breath work, and mindfulness training.
