Customized Treatment Approach
Private Physical Yoga Therapy (PYT) Sessions
Personalized sessions integrating yoga and physical therapy comprise the heart of Physical Yoga Therapy. These sessions are a partnership that begins with me prescribing an individualized program for you after performing a thorough evaluation. You and I work collaboratively to perfect a practice for you during the sessions and finally you continue your practice on your own time to maximize lasting benefit. Private sessions are highly effective for someone brand new to yoga, someone wanting to deepen their yoga practice, or for clients coming to me for rehabilitation of an injury.
My Physical Yoga Therapy approach begins with injury prevention, alignment principles, and core stability to build a strong foundation. I emphasize joint and spine protection by providing stabilization and breath work, prior to introducing mobility in sequential poses. This preparation avoids excessive force and collapsing preventing strain and injury. I provide hands-on adjustments and modifications which may include use of props such as bolsters, blankets, and sand bags. I also incorporate manual therapy interventions including Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, and Neuromuscular Release techniques.
Semi-Private PYT Sessions
These small-group sessions are perfect for those who prefer plenty of space and thorough supervision to maximize personal comfort, skill, and safety. You will receive hands-on adjustments and modifications specifically designed for your own unique anatomy. These personalized teaching sessions improve body awareness and safety to enrich your practice while minimizing the risk of injury.
PYT Intensive Workshops
PYT workshops provide the opportunity for participants to take a specific element of Physical Yoga Therapy to a deeper, core-level understanding. These 2-4 hour classes feature a combination of educational talks, personal sharing, and Physical Yoga Therapy practice to insure mastery and integration of the material.
